Program Description

Event Details

Dr. Nicholas Gentile will discuss his new book, Enemies to Their Country (University of Massachusetts Press, Sept. 2025), "an enticing microhistory of the American Revolution that invites readers to consider how the members of one New England town came together to fight for political independence." During the presentation, Dr. Gentile will provide an overview of his book and share information and anecdotes he learned over the course of his research. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.

About the Author:

Dr. Nicholas W. Gentile is an independent historian, adjunct professor, and institute director. His passion for microhistory—looking at small things in big ways and big things in small ways—was nurtured at Brandeis University by Dr. David Hackett Fischer, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Washington's Crossing (2004). He and his wife, Christina, live with their six children in DeWitt, Michigan, and enjoy exploring old battlefields.
