The Savvy Caregiver Program is designed to provide the most relevant dementia knowledge, skills, and mastery to support family members as they provide care for their relative or friend living with dementia. It has been proven to decrease caregiver distress, burden, and depression, while increasing the caregiver’s sense of competence and confidence in their care role.
By attending the program, you will be able to:
- Understand dementia and the impact it has on behavior
- Establish realistic expectations for yourself and the person with dementia
- Support your person's ability to engage in meaningful daily activities
- Structure an effective caregiving environment
- Improve your confidence as a caregiver
This program is intended for primary caregivers of individuals with dementia. The individual with dementia cannot live in a 24/7 care facility such as assisted living or long-term care facility (i.e. they must live in the community). This workshop is not intended for professional caregivers.
This program will meet weekly from October 8 - November 19. Please register to attend all six sessions.
